The Five Stages to Change 05/03/2010
Let's face it, we all can improve on something in our lives. It can be a drastic change, like overcoming addicition or something as simple as waking up a few minutes earlier for better time management. Follow the steps below to start making the changes that you want to make in your life...and remember, YOU CAN DO IT! Step One: AWARENESS. Becoming aware of the thoughts, feelings, and actions that are holding you back is the first step to making a change. Step Two: ACTION. Action is the actual taking of the first step towards change. It is the stage that allows you to research the things that you need to do in order to see the change actualize. It lays the foundation, giving you direction as to what your next right action will be. Then you take that knowledge and take action. Step Three: ASSIMILATION. This is the stage where you begin to merge your old beliefs and actions into your new aspirations. It is a stage of growth and integration. You see your desires are within reach and you are on your way there. Step Four: ACCEPTANCE. This stage is exactly what is stated. It means that you accept yourself for the progress you've made and accepting yourself for any slips that may've come along the way. If ever you fall back when you are in the process of change, simply acknowledge your "relaspe" and start over. Slipping back into your old ways are actually a part of the process to ultimate change. There is a great saying that comes to mind when I think of this, "I may not be where I want to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be!" Step Five: ACTUALIZATION. This is the most beautiful part of change, the realization that you have made it, that you have stepped into the reality that you desired to create, that you have reached your goals and climbed the mountain to success. Now make a list of the things that you wish to improve upon. Apply these simple steps and watch yourself bloom into the person you were created to be!
